Description: This is a 35-card scavenger hunt that can be used to teach students about the Mayflower ship the Pilgrims traveled on during their journey to America. In this hunt, students will learn why the ship was crowded, how the ship got its name, how its design made it a good ship to travel in, but may have also made their trip to America longer than planned, and more. To complete the hunt, students are presented with 17 multiple-choice questions. Then they read the information that will help them answer the questions. If they choose the correct answer, they are directed to the next question. If their answer is incorrect, they can reread the text to find the correct answer. They receive instant feedback on whether or not they chose the correct answer. The final card in the deck challenges students to write 3 interesting things they learned about the Pilgrims. It can be used as a Thanksgiving lesson, to supplement a study of the colonization of America, to enhance the understanding of a story, or practice for reading informational text.
